3rd of July Celebration!

The Downtown Lake Worth merchants, like others, are staggering under a recession that does not seem to go away.  Last year the DCA (Downtown Cultural Alliance) was formed as a self-help measure to hold onto the wonderful uniqueness this little town has to offer, and to support each other in bringing services to all those who visit the downtown area.

The DCA works with the Chamber (Who will be having their annual 4th of July concert and fired works in the park, and with Amy Saleeby who has planned amazing bands and volleyball tournaments on the beach on the 4th.

The DCA wanted to give the general public a 4th of July weekend to be remembered.  Our full day of activities on the 3rd of July will be a fun, safe, inexpensive way for families to celebrate. 98% of the restaurants and merchants are participating.  All have agreed to line the streets with food, activities, music, games and contests.  All have agreed to cut back prices to make the day affordable to families.

The City has allowed the DCA to close down K and L streets.  They will have theatrical and musical entertainment on these stages throughout the day.  Also, there will be the animal rescue bus as well as the watermelon eating and pie baking contests in these areas.

Click here to download the various press releases for this event:

1.     A General press release about the entire event.

2.     A release listing all of the participating restaurants to date

3.     A release listing all of the merchants to date

4.     A release listing all of the contests, judges and arts vendors to date

5.     A release listing the music and theatrical presentations.

The DCA is working on a non-existent budget to make all of this happen.  All organizational work has been done by volunteers.  The bands, theater, judges, etc. are all volunteering their services.  Despite the “zero” funding for the days activities, this promises to be a spectacular 3rd of July celebration adding to a wonderful 4th of July weekend.

We would appreciate any and all help you could give us in publicizing this activity.  Without you it would be impossible to get the word out to all those who could really enjoy this day.
