Lucerne Ave. Post Office Landscape Project

posted Mar 7, 2010, 9:06 AM by Ryan Anderson
The Downtown Jewel Neighborhood Association has chosen to undertake revitalizing the landscaping at the Lucerne Avenue Post Office as their next community project.

This Post Office is one of our city's historic gems and features the Joseph D. Myers 1947 mural "Settlers Fighting Alligator from Rowboat" commissioned by the Treasury Department's SFA (Section of Fine Arts program).

The grounds have suffered some damage over the years and DJNA Treasurer Sandy Weston has spearheaded this project to bring the property back to the condition a building of this stature deserves.

The goal is to replace the dead palm trees, plant decorative shrubs to mask the chain link fence and re-sod the property.

DJNA is partnering with the City of Lake Worth, United States Post Office and are welcoming volunteers from all areas of the City to join in this effort.
