Marathon of the Palm Beaches

Rich Viens, the Director of Course Ambassadors, is looking for people to assist in the Marathon of the Palm Beaches this Sunday, December 6th.    The PBSO has requested at least 15 volunteers from Lake Worth to assist with the traffic controls.

Background on the Marathon:
The race has a new course this year, starting/ending in West Palm Beach, going all the way through Lake Worth to Lantana, and returning through Lake Worth.   We need helpful citizens (like you) to let drivers know where they are allowed to cross the race.

The role of Course Ambassadors:
You would be stationed at key intersections in Lake Worth.  You will stop any drivers that attempt to cross the course and instruct them to go to designated crossing locations.   You would need to meet in downtown Lake Worth at 6:30am, and be finished around 11:00am.   We would provide you with a Volunteer T-Shirt and 2010 Course Ambassador Cowbell (both yours to keep), and show you where you are needed.  You could bring a lawn chair and a friend and spend the morning watching the runners and guarding them from vehicular traffic.

Having participated and watched many marathons, I can attest that is a fun and easy but very important job.  Please let Rich know if you are able to help out and I will send you more information about the meeting location.

Please email or call Rich if you have any questions; his contact information is listed below:
