TRNA Members Help Catch the Bad Guys

posted Feb 21, 2010, 8:04 AM by Ryan Anderson

On 02/20/10, two of the TRNA finest, Vince Rodgers and Erick Ranbert, called in a suspicious vehicle in the area of 5th Ave North and E Street. They had observed the vehicle following migrant workers, pulling up behind them, and turning its headlights off. They felt that the vehicle was in the area to do robberies and advised that it was occupied by 3 B/M’s. They got the make and a partial tag of the vehicle. While a deputy was issuing a BOLO for the vehicle; a robbery was dispatched at 1502 North D Street (occurred in the 1000 Blk of D St). The victim of the robbery gave a similar description of the vehicle. A few minutes later a second robbery was dispatched in the 200 Blk of North C Street. The victim did not see a vehicle, but stated he was beaten by 2 B/M’s and his wallet was taken. While units were checking the area the suspicious vehicle drove past marked units, but was only occupied by the driver. The vehicle blacked out and made a quick turn on a side street. The driver attempted to flee but was detained. The driver’s cell phone rang and an unknown person asked to be picked up in the area. Deputies flooded the area to look for the other suspect for close to 2 hours. A caller advised that someone was on his roof at 2nd Ave North and A Street . K-9 and the Eagle responded to help hunt for the suspects. One of the suspects was located hiding behind a dumpster in the 1800 Blk of Lake Worth Rd. It was later determined that the 3rd suspect had been picked up by a friend. Approx 6 cell phones were found in the suspect’s vehicle. One of the cell phones belonged to the robbery victim from 1502 North D St. and another belonged to a robbery victim from 02/19/10. Robbery responded and developed Probable Cause to arrest the 2 suspects for robbery. It is expected that numerous other robberies will be linked to these suspects. If it were not for Vince and Erick providing information on this vehicle these suspects would not have been captured.

At approx 2251 hrs, units responded to a Home Invasion Robbery at 26 Holiday Dr. Three armed H/M’s suspects entered the trailer and tied 3 victims with electrical cord. The suspects stole the victim’s money and a flat screen television. The victims were not injured. Robbery responded.

At approx 0009 hrs, units responded to a reported residential burglary at 1737 15th Ave North . While on scene they discovered that the residence was being used to grow marijuana. OCB responded to investigate.

At approx 0127 hrs, units responded to a vehicle burglary in progress at 521 South C St . The suspect was captured while he was still inside the vehicle.
